What started as a topical satire about love and social distancing in the early weeks of the Covid-19 pandemic evolved into a much deeper exploration of the isolation, anxiety, and self- doubt that many of us were forced to face while in lockdown. In retrospect, as we slowly work our way back into what we consider normal society, the past few years have left scars on many of us, and looking back, this film feels like a time capsule of that experience. Marcus and Layla’s lust-driven adventure breaks these ideas down layer by layer through anatomy, sensory visualization, and metaphors of nature as each character tries to learn to love one’s self.
Created by manipulating 3D scans of actors and animating them with a mix of motion capture and keyframed animation as a solution when live-action production came to a halt in the early months of the pandemic.
