Flow is a short animated film that aims to bridge a connection between events that we can’t control and the moments we can control.
Technically this piece was also a learning experience. This project was animated, designed and produced entirely in Houdini. I wanted to learn the software and I thought what if I created something that wouldn’t typically be done in Houdini. I did composite everything with After Effects. 3D elements were rendered with Redshift. All of these production techniques contribute to the overall experimental nature of the piece. As a creative designer, I believe that there shouldn’t be any limit or restriction on the types of tools we use to make art. As long as it is comfortable.
Flow featured on the Good Moves blog where I spoke to curator Dan Rice about the project and behind the scenes: https://medium.com/good-chats/tom-roohan-on-going-with-the- flow-3954573bb37f
