This piece takes a deep look at the modern Republican party in the traditional stronghold of Texas. In the aftermath of former President Donald Trump’s tenure, conservatism has taken a new and more extreme shape. Correspondant Michael Moynihan took this opportunity to meet some Texans who fall on the right side of the political spectrum. The design of this piece is a playful interpretation of a visit to Texas. We played with the idea of Texas as an almost kitschy, exotic destination for our host Michael Moynihan. The visual language borrows inspiration from 90s style postcards, breaking down the footage in colorful frames, and leaning into the humor of the music track chosen for the open.
